On Wednesday and Thursday, the girls’ swim team traveled to independent meets at Connetquot and Sachem North, turning in four combined victories against some of the best talent in Suffolk County.

At Wednesday’s meet at Connetquot, Amelia Griffin won the 500 free (5:47.84) and Ruthie Crane took the 100 backstroke (1:05.52) with times that would have qualified them for the County Championships if we were still members of Section XI. Kaitlyn Tse (200 free/2:12.06 & 100 butterfly/1:06.68), Griffin (50 free/26.75), and Sofia Arrascue (100 backstroke/1:08.53) earned 3rd place finishes for the Bears.

At Thursday’s Sachem North meet, Griffin won the 50 free (26.64) in a County qualifying time and Tse won the 100 backstroke (1:07.76). Arrascue (200 free/2:24.78), Crane (50 free/26.80 & 100 free/57.72), and Kate Hunt (500 free/7:21.21) earned 2nd place finishes while Brooke Shteierman (200 free/2:25.57) and Griffin (100 butterfly/1:09.65) earned 3rd place finishes.

The Bears are back in the water on Friday in an intrasquad Blue & White meet.
