Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ tennis team did just enough to edge Port Jeff before a light mist made the home courts unplayable. The teams elected to play 8-game pro sets instead of the traditional best 2-of-3 sets due to the impending rain, completing four of them in the non-league tilt. The Bears won all four of the matches to improve to 4-0 overall on the season.
Carina Cristobal (8-0) and Alana Wu (8-1) won their 1st and 2nd singles matches while Ali Cristobal and Mia Lajmi (8-2) and Meghan Creighton and Vida Sandberg (8-2) took 2nd and 3rd doubles to seal the a fourth straight win over the Royals dating back to 2016. In addition, when the match was called, Isabel Guo (5-4) and Brianna Shinin (1-0) were leading their singles matches and Sam Cox and Caroline Helmer (5-2) led their doubles match.
The Bears are back on the court on Friday afternoon in their Homecoming match vs. the Ross School.
