Bears Unleash Barrage vs. Wolverines

Today, on a breezy, fall afternoon on Fitch Field, the boys’ soccer team emphatically improved to 2-0 on the season with an 8-0 non-league win over Waldorf.

The scoring started just 90 seconds into the game when Tiger Winston found James Fay for the opening tally. The lead doubled at the 25:41 mark when the Wolverines committed an own goal but, despite numerous chances the rest of the way, the Bears could not extend the lead until the final minute of the half when Ade Adedeji tucked away a 3-0 lead with just 55.6 seconds on the clock.

The Brook added five more tallies in the second half, the first of which came when John Fay intercepted a goal kick and crossed the ball to Lee Maeba for a score less than 10 minutes into the half. Maeba assisted on the next goal to James Fay less than four minutes later. From there, the Bears scored three more goals behind Aidan Riley’s first career varsity goal, Adedeji’s second tally, and Ore Ogunsina’s first goal as a Bear to improve to 4-0 all-time vs. Waldorf. In their last three match-ups with the Wolverines, the Bears have won by a combined score of 22-1.

Stephen Cisz, Joe Spreckels, Enoch Guo, and Erick Beausoleil provided stout defense, anchored by Lem Kutame who earned the clean sheet in goal. The Bears are back on the pitch tomorrow afternoon in a home scrimmage with Smithtown Christian.
