Yesterday afternoon, the girls’ swim team turned in an outstanding performance against Hauppauge/Smithtown, one of the largest and strongest teams in Suffolk County, falling by a 74-103 margin.
Kaitlyn Tse took 1st place in the 200 individual medley (2:21.52), Ruth Crane nabbed top billing in the 500 free (5:28.68), and Amelia Griffin turned in the swim of the day, coming from behind to out-touch her opponent at the wall by .06 in the 100 free (56.23).
Lifetime best swims abounded as Tse, Brooke Shteierman, Naomi Crane, Trinity Kim, Duretti Teressa, Kate Hunt, Luciana Salsone, and Neveah Pulipati all turned in personal records in their respective events. Additionally, Ruth and Naomi Crane, Griffin, Shteierman, and Sofia Arrascue dug deep by swimming back-to-back events without rest in order to score points for the team.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday in an independent meet at Ward Melville.
