On an unseasonably hot and humid Saturday in Manhattan, a group of Bears battled 89-degree temperatures and some of the best track and field athletes in the state at the New York Relays, held at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.
Colin Scanlon put up his best 400 hurdle time of the season, finishing 2nd with a mark of 56.31. Chad Franklin medaled in both the triple jump (4th/39′ 2.5″) and long jump (5th/20′ 00″), posting a season-best distance in the long. Sarah Wong just missed the podium and came within a second of the school record, taking 6th overall in the 400 hurdles (71.17) despite winning her heat. Finally, Evelyn Apazidis closed her season with a 9th overall finish in the 400 hurdles (77.39).
