On Friday, the lacrosse blog Back of the Cage, which covers all levels of high school, college, and professional lacrosse in New York, listed Morgan Ruggieri as one of their Top 50 Juniors across Long Island public, private, and parochial schools. She was the only PSAA player selected for the list.
In eight games so far this season, Ruggieri has tallied 36 goals and 8 assists. Her 44-point total leads all Long Island players by 16 points, according to Newsday.com’s current standings, and she leads the second-highest goal scorer by 15 goals.
The Manhattan College-bound junior helped lead the Bears to a 4-2 record in the PSAA this season which will likely give the Bears a #2 seed and a home semifinal game when the PSAA tournament begins next week. The Bears are back on the field this Saturday in a non-league match-up with Poly Prep.
