On Saturday, Francine Leung ’19 took 1st place in the long jump to help Carnegie Mellon University top Case Western Reserve University in the Battle for the Obelisk. The win was the Tartans’ second in a row over Case Western and their highest-scoring performance in the 12-year history of the meet.

After taking 4th place at last week’s Pioneer Open with a personal best jump of 16′ 2.25″, the freshman leapt forward to 16′ 7″ (5.05m) in only her second collegiate meet. Her first jump past the five-meter barrier secured five points for the Tartans on their way to a dominant win.

Leung and the Tartans are back in action next weekend at Denison University.
