Yesterday afternoon, the boys’ swim team opened the season with a dominant 56-36 victory at Lindenhurst. In head coach Marc Danin’s fifth season at the helm, this is the first time the Bears earned victories in all eleven races.
Three Bears were double winners on the day as Hunter Markowitz took firsts in the 200 individual medley (2:12.24) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.58), Rob Fehrenbach in the 200 freestyle (2:19.79) and 100 butterfly (1:12.65), and Oliver Griffin in the 500 freestyle (5:54.07) and 100 backstroke (1:07.54). In addition, Markus Calero took the 50 freestyle (25.05) and Nick Chung the 100 freestyle (1:01.21).
The Bears also took all three relays as Griffin, Markowitz, Fehrenback, and Calero claimed the 200 medley (1:56.28), Chung, Steven Saraniero, Fehrenbach, and John Zhou the 200 freestyle (1:53.57), and Griffin, Chung, Calero, and Markowitz the 400 freestyle (4:00.31).
