Big 1st Quarter Powers Bears Past Our Savior

Scanlon in action vs. Waldorf (PC: Bruce Jeffrey)
Last night the girls’ basketball team hit the road for the first time this season and brought back to campus a 36-25 win over Our Savior, leveling their PSAA record at 1-1.
The Blue & White came out firing in the first quarter, miring their hosts in a 20-4 hole they would not recover from. Nadia Hall and Bekah Detwiler each scored 8 of their 10 points in the opening frame while Niamh Scanlon added 4 points to power the Bears. The Brooker offense slowed in the second quarter, but still edged the Pioneers 6-4 in the period to take a 26-8 lead into the half.
In the third quarter the Bear defense limited Our Savior to just 2 points while Scanlon outscored them on her own with a bucket and a free throw. Every Bear saw significant floor time in the fourth as the visitors salted away the game.
Scanlon, Detwiler, and Hall led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points apiece, while Wura Obasanjo added 6 and Parisa Carrano 2. The Bears are back in action tomorrow afternoon in a home match-up vs. Waldorf.
