Last night, the girls’ basketball team hit the road for the first time this season and brought back to campus a 36-25 win over Our Savior, leveling their PSAA record at 1-1.
The Blue & White came out firing in the first quarter, miring their hosts in a 20-4 hole they would not recover from. Nadia Hall and Bekah Detwiler each scored eight of their 10 points in the opening frame while Niamh Scanlon added four points to power the Bears. The Brooker offense slowed in the second quarter, but still edged the Pioneers 6-4 in the period to take a 26-8 lead into the half.
In the third quarter, the Bear defense limited Our Savior to just two points while Scanlon outscored them on her own with a bucket and a free throw. Every Bear saw significant floor time in the fourth as the visitors salted away the game.
Scanlon, Detwiler, and Hall led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points apiece, while Wura Obasanjo added 6 and Parisa Carrano 2. The Bears are back in action tomorrow afternoon in a home match-up vs. Waldorf.
