Swimmers Leave Cougars in Wake

On Thursday afternoon, the girls’ swim team topped St. John the Baptist, 54-33, on Senior Day in Swanson Natatorium.

Rebecca Crane won two races in her last home meet, taking first in the 100 freestyle (56.68) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.69). Ruthie Crane was also a double-winner for the Brook, showing her versatility in the 50 freestyle (26.76) and 500 freestyle (5:44.15). Amelia Griffin was the Bears’ other individual winner, cruising in the 200 freestyle in 2:23.35.

The Bears also took all three relays. Griffin, Jana Grenz, Kate Von Savage, and Anya Caraiani partnered to win the 200 medley in 2:00.20; Sarah Vincent, Caraiani, Von Savage, and Grenz won the 200 freestyle in 2:02.00; and Ruthie Crane, Griffin, Sofia Arrascue, and Rebecca Crane joined forces to take the 400 freestyle in 4:01.91.

The Bears are back in action on Friday in a match-up at West Islip.
