On Wednesday afternoon, the boys’ soccer team handed Portledge a 3-0 loss to give the Bears a fourth straight shutout vs. the Panthers.
From the opening moment,s the Brook peppered the Portledge keeper with shot after shot, but the netminder rose to each challenge. The Bears finally broke through at the 23:05 mark when Lee Maeba volleyed home a long pass from Steven Cisz to give the Brook a 1-0 edge, a lead they maintained at the half.
At the 24:24 mark of the second half, the Bears finally gained some breathing room when Mo Romeus dropped a deft pass to John Chang who banged a shot off the keeper and in from the right side of the box. The Blue & White defense kept Portledge at bay for the remainder of the half and Maeba struck again with 1:08 left to provide the final margin. Ryahn Khan made one stop in net for the clean sheet.
The Bears are currently 4-1-1 in PSAA play (7-1-1 overall), good enough for 2nd in the East Division standings. They return to action on Saturday in a non-league Homecoming match-up with Our Savior.
