Yesterday afternoon, the volleyball team triumphantly returned to the gymnasium at Long Island Lutheran, earning a decisive 3-0 victory at the site of last year’s heartbreaking PSAA Championship loss.
It was a battle of unbeaten teams atop the PSAA East Division standings, but the Bears served notice with a lopsided 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 result. Bekah Detwiler racked up 14 kills and 5 aces, Elizabeth Robbins anchored the defense with 44 digs and 4 aces, and Niamh Scanlon added 17 assists.
The Bears now lord over the East Division standings and are in the driver’s seat for a third consecutive regular season league championship with three matches to go. They have not lost a league match in either Section XI or the PSAA since October 25, 2016, a string of 23 consecutive wins including 20 by way of the sweep.
The girls are back in action on Friday afternoon in a Homecoming non-league match-up vs. the Ross School.
