On Wednesday afternoon, the boys’ soccer team registered a 7-0 victory over Waldorf in a home non-league match.
Last year the Bears dispatched the Wolverines by scores of 5-2 and 7-1 and yesterday’s script remained largely unchanged. The Blue & White seized control of the match right from the opening whistle, dominating the possession game and sending wave after wave breaking against the Waldorf backfield. After several close calls early, Owen Sobel won a tough 50/50 ball and crossed it in to Mo Romeus who drove home his first of three scores on the day at the 35:47 mark. Less than 10 minutes later, Romeus won a header in the air that left him one-on-one with the keeper for an easy goal. He capped his hat trick at the 17:38 mark when he tucked home a misplayed ball by the goalie. Lee Maeba ended the first half scoring when he buried a cross from Sobel into the top shelf to put the Bears up 4-0.
The Brook outscored the Wolverines 3-0 in the second half behind scores from Justine Zakayo (32:08), Ian Blunt (24:07), and Maeba (11:40). Andy Liu and Ryahn Khan combined for the clean sheet in goal.
The Bears are currently 2-0 and back in action on Monday at home in their PSAA opener vs. Our Savior.
