On Saturday, Jyles Etienne ’17 returned to his native Bahamas and took second in the open high jump at the Juniors National Championship, held at the National Stadium in Nassau.

The Indiana University junior cleared 6′ 10.75″ to take the silver, an inch behind the leader. He last competed in his country’s Junior Nationals in 2016 when he also jumped 6′ 10.75″ to take gold in the under-18 division.

Etienne is back in action the first week of July in the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) U-23 Championship held in Queretaro, Mexico. Last year over 300 athletes from 29 nations competed in the championship hosted by Toronto. The winning high jump was turned in by America’s Jeron Robinson (7′ 5.75″).
