March 27, 2019

On Tuesday the boys’ and girls’ track teams hosted the first PSAA meet of the season, turning in numerous fine performances that belied the early date and cold temperatures. The boys’ team earned a total of 99 out of a possible 132 points, sweeping every field event as well as the 400 hurdles, 110 hurdles, 800, 1600, and 3200. They also won the 4×100 and 4×400 relays to round out a dominant day.

Individual winners for the boys included: Riley Corcoran (800/ 2:16.2; 1600/ 4:53.6), Harrison Plhak (400 hurdles/ 68.3), Colin Scanlon (110 hurdles/ 17.9), Zack Xu (3200/ 13:09), Nick Bertrand (high jump/ 5′ 6″), Mo Romeus (long jump/ 17′ 7″; triple jump/ 34′ 3.75″), and Max Chambers (shot put/ 40′ 0″; discus/ 89′ 3″).

Carl Dohna, Chambers, Romeus, and Eji Mbanefo combined to win the 4×100 relay in 49.6 while Chris Zhang, Josh Lin, Plhak, and Corcoran won the 4×400 relay in 3:57.6.

The girls were equally as dominant as the boys, as they won four of the five field events as well as five track events, including a sweep in the 100m dash, along with the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.
