Yesterday evening, Francine Leung finished 3rd in the triple jump at the 2nd Annual NYSAISAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Armory in New York City.
The senior sprang 32′ 4″ on her third jump, edging out the 4th place finisher from Hackley, Kiara Abbey, who leapt the same distance. The tiebreaker came down to a foul on one of Abbey’s jumps. Leung jumped 31′ 1″ and 31′ 8″ on his first two attempts and closed with a leap of 30′ 0″. In addition to nabbing the bronze, Leung finished in the top two of Federation declared jumpers, meaning she will move on to the New York State Federation Championships held at Staten Island’s Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on March 2.
