On this day 12 years ago, the boys’ basketball team rolled Pierson, 56-31, in a Suffolk County semifinal match-up in Swanson Gymnasium.

Mitch Singer scored 11 of his 16 points in an 18-6 first quarter that got the Bears off and running. The lead swelled to 30-15 at the half and only grew from there. Pete Carmel added 10 points and 19 rebounds while Lou Pizzichillo scored 12 and notched 5 steals.

The Bears went on to win the program’s first County Championship two days later in a 43-32 win over Mercy.
