On this day 13 years ago, Kristyn Dunleavy tied her school record for points in a game with 39 as the Bears topped Pierson, 62-40. The win help the Brook improve to 8-0 on the way to an undefeated League Championship.
It was a painful deja vu for the Whalers who also watched Dunleavy score 39 against them less than a month earlier in a 56-29 win on Jan. 6. The 39-point mark remains the record to this day.
That season the Bears went on to win the program’s first County Championship since 1999, the first of six consecutive titles.
