On this day 26 years ago, the boys’ basketball team edged La Salle, 65-64.

Matt Mattimore’s free throw gave the Brook a 65-60 lead with 1:33 remaining, but La Salle cut their deficit back to one with 27 seconds remaining. La Salle got the stop they needed, but the potential game-winner fell short at the buzzer. Jonas Fischer led all scorers with 35, including 15-of-17 from the foul line to lead the Bears.

The Bears went on to win the program’s first League Championship since 1975.
