This afternoon, the boys’ soccer team remained undefeated on the season with a 3-0 shutout over Portledge to move to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the PSAA.
The Bears played the Panthers to a standstill after the first 40 minutes, thanks in part to Brandon Gicquel’s recent penchant for clearing balls off the goal line, a habit he started in last week’s win over Our Savior.
Once again, the Bears kicked their offense into the gear after the half, galvanized by Tiger Winston who found the back of the net less than 10 minutes into the half after Mo Romeus headed a Jai Narain throw-in into the box. Owen Sobel followed less than a minute later when he stole a pass in the Portledge backfield then weaved between three Panthers before finding the top shelf on a lefty strike. Romeus sealed the win with less than four minutes remaining when he took a Winston free kick and volleyed it over the keeper for the final tally. Lael Kutame made 4 saves to record the clean sheet.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday in a home match-up with Our Savior.
