On Thursday, the New York State Sportswriters Association unveiled its All-State baseball team. Joe Wozny was named to the Class C 5th Team after a sensational sophomore campaign, becoming the first Stony Brook baseball player to make the team since Pete Grimm batted .607 to lead the Brook to the 1999 Long Island Championship.
Wozny went 5-0 during the regular season and reset Cameron Thiessen’s 29-year-old strikeout record with 121 on the season while leading the team to its first playoff appearance since 1999.
On August 1, the rising junior will head down to Alabama for an invitational workout with the Colorado Rockies.
