On Thursday, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association released its School of Distinction Award winners and the Stony Brook School was one of just 30 schools, of the nearly 800 member institutions of NYSPHSAA, to achieve the honor.

Programs earn the School of Distinction Award if 100% of their varsity teams achieve NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete status by maintaining at least a 90% team grade point average over the course of the season. All 17 of the Bears’ varsity teams that compete in NYSPHSAA accomplished this feat, placing the Brook in rarefied company.
