On Thursday July 12, Jyles Etienne ’17 will compete for Team Bahamas in the high jump at the IAAF World Under 20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. If he makes the final, he will compete on Saturday July 14.
The former Bear made a splash in his freshman year at Indiana, jumping 7′ 3″ in his first collegiate meet to set the Hoosier Open meet record and slot himself at #2 in the country at the time. That jump ended up as the 14th best height of the entire college indoor season. For much of the remainder of the indoor and outdoor seasons, Etienne was hampered by a hamstring injury, but looks to make his mark at the U-20 Championships after several weeks of rest and rehabilitation.
