On her graduation day at the University of Virginia, Caitlin Banks ’00 notched five points to lead the Cavaliers to a 15-11 victory over Northwestern in the NCAA quarterfinals. The win tied the program record for victories in a season with 17, a mark they broke five days later with a victory over Georgetown in the semifinals.

Banks scored the opening goal, just 47 seconds into the game, and added four assists, including three straight late in the second half that stretched the Cavalier lead from 12-10 to 15-10. Her 4 assists also moved her up to third place on UVA’s all-time list.

Virginia went on to win the National Championship, thanks in part to 3 goals and an assist from the former Bear.
