On this day 13 years ago, Brian Tilley ’04 was named to the America East Men’s Lacrosse All-Rookie Team in a vote by the conference head coaches.
The former Bear played in all 14 of the Hawks’ games in 2005, making eight starts, and finished the year with 9 goals and 10 assists, good enough for fifth on the team in points.
By his senior season in 2008, Tilley became an indispensable piece of the Hawks’ offense. He was the team’s leading goal scorer (15) and finished second in points (19) to earn team MVP honors. He was also second in scoring among America East midfielders and eighth in scoring overall, helping him earn a berth in the NEILA East-West All-Star Game.
After graduating, Tilley turned his sights to coaching and served as the Hawks’ offensive coordinator from 2010-2014, helping Hartford win the America East title in 2011. In 2015 he took the head job at Eastern Connecticut State University, leading the Warriors to a Little East Conference Championship that year. He is currently in his fourth year with the Warriors.
