On this day 45 years ago, the boys’ track team dispatched the New York Military Academy, 96-35, to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Stony Brook Wins 3rd Meet

Five double winners sparked Stony Brook’s unbeaten track team to its third victory yesterday, a 96-35 rout of the New York Military Academy.

Randall Ellison won the 100 and 220, Don Lockerbie the 440 and 880, and George Worthington the mile and two mile. In the field events, Bob Vojada won the 70-yard high hurdles and the 120 low hurdles, and Gary Webster the long and triple jumps.

The track squad went on to finish 7-0 to win their 15th and final Ivy League crown before moving to the public school league a year later.
