On this day 41 years ago, Don Lockerbie ’75 won the 880 yard run at the Carolina Relays, held at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, in a time of 1:55.5.

Later that season, the Tar Heel captain would go on to win the ACC Championship in the 880 in 1:53.1 before helping the mile relay team to a 3rd place finish at the National Championships to earn All-American honors.
