Passalacqua slides into second during the 2002 season
On this day 14 years ago, Anthony Passalacqua ’99 recorded 4 hits and drove in 4 runs in Erskine College’s 20-10 victory over Anderson College.
The former Bear drew a 1st inning walk, connected on a 2-run single with 2 outs in the 3rd, hit a lead off single in the 5th, singled to left in the 6th, and drilled a 2-run double in an 8-run 9th inning for the Flying Fleets. He also added 3 runs in the game.
Passalacqua finished his senior season with a .400 batting average, 23 doubles, 10 home runes, 60 RBIs, 60 runs, and 17 stolen bases. He also made the All-Tournament Team and won Erskine’s highest honor, the Jake Todd Award, for excelling on and off the field.
He finished his career as a a 4-year starter and 3-time All-Conference selection and still holds school records in batting average, doubles, hits, home runs, RBIs, runs, and total bases.
After Erskine, Passalacqua played professional ball in the Italian League and finished in the Top 5 in the league in home runs in 2007 while garnering an All-Star recognition.
