The 1998 boys’ lax team in the County Championship

On this day 20 years ago, the boys’ lacrosse team dominated Islip, 17-4.

The Brook jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter and an 8-2 edge at the half, before putting the game away with a 6-1 third quarter.

Jay Miaritis (5 goals/ 2 assists) and Sean Metz (4 goals/ 1 assist) powered the offense while Dave Pike anchored the defense with 8 saves between the pipes. Matt Meskill (3 goals), Jay Smith (2), Nick Miaritis (1), Jim Stanek (1), and Jon Marvin (1) rounded out the scoring for the Brook.

The Bears went on to win a third of four consecutive Division Championships, then topped Shoreham-Wading River in a thriller to advance to their fifth consecutive County Final.
