Simmons
On this day 15 years ago, Lyndsey Simmons ’00 made a spectacular catch in Oklahoma State’s 16-6 victory over Kansas.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, the former Bear made a diving catch in front of the center field wall with his back to the infield to save at least one run.
Simmons finished his year with the Cowboys as an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection with a .352 batting average, 43 hits, 27 runs, 4 doubles, 3 triples, 25 RBIs, and an .894 OPS.
He was later taken in the 14th round of the 2004 MLB Draft by the Montreal Expos. He recorded 9 hits, 7 runs, 3 doubles, and 4 RBIs for the Gulf Coast League Expos to go along with a .992 fielding percentage and 11 caught stealing at catcher. In 2005, he split time with the Gulf Coast League Nationals and the Fullerton Flyers of the Golden League.
