Marvin (#1) with the Bears in 1996

On this day 18 years ago, Robbie Marvin ’96 helped engineer the winning runs in the University of Virginia’s 3-1 victory over NC State.

With the score knotted at 1-1 in the top of the 9th inning, Marvin bunted for a hit to put runners on first and second with one out. An infield single loaded the bases with two outs and a line drive to left field followed, plating David Stone and Marvin with the winning runs. Marvin finished his day 1-for-4 at the plate with 7 assists at second base.

He finished his senior season with the Cavaliers by leading the team in batting average (.350) and stolen bases (16), while finishing second in assists (121) and third in hits (63). His outstanding season earned him 2nd Team All-ACC honors and VASID All-State Honorable Mention.
