
Tomorrow afternoon, the second-seeded boys’ basketball team will face off against #3 Mercy in the semifinals of the Suffolk County Class C Tournament. Here is what you need to know for the match-up.

- This is the 18th straight postseason appearance for the Bears, the second-longest active streak in Suffolk behind perennial power Amityville.
- The Bears face Mercy who beat sixth-seeded Southold last night in overtime, 62-58. This is Mercy’s first postseason berth since 2008.
- The winner of tomorrow’s match-up will play the winner of #1 Greenport/#5 Port Jeff in the Class C Final on Sunday, February 18 at Suffolk CCC–Selden at 3:30pm.
- The Bears have won four of their last five home playoff games: 2007 vs. Pierson (56-31), 2008 vs. Southold (66-48), 2009 vs. Mercy (57-51) & 2017 vs. Port Jeff (50-47).
- The Bears have earned a place in the Class C Final in 10 out of the last 11 years, winning in 2007, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017. They have won the last five titles, the longest streak in the history of Class C.
- The Bears have won 13 straight games vs. Mercy dating back to 2005 including wins in both regular season match-ups this year: 51-43 & 54-46.
- The Bears have won both postseason match-ups vs. the Monarchs: the 2007 County Championship (43-32) and a 2009 semifinal (57-51).
