The 1984-85 swim team
On this day 33 years ago, the boys’ swim team finished their league season undefeated to win a second consecutive League Championship.
The Shrikes topped Deer Park, 93-78, to finish the year 12-0. After closing the previous season with eleven straight wins, the 12-0 finish ran their winning streak to an incredible 23 meets. The boys opened the season opened the season with a thriller over Hauppauge that was decided in the final event.
John Paul Munnich was the team MVP and Brent Long provided great leadership for the squad. Ann Marie Wycoff, who swam with the boys due to the lack of a girls’ team, was named an All-American that season.
