On this day 73 years ago, Fred Honsberger scored in the final minute of play to give the Brook a 41-39 win over Montclair Academy.

The Blue and White jumped out to an early nine-point lead behind captain Charley Medd, and took a 15-6 lead into the second quarter. Montclair closed the gap in the second frame and the Brookers went into the half with a narrow 28-25 lead.

Montclair surged into the lead after a 9-3 third quarter, but Medd and Honsberger caught fire in the fourth as the Brook poured in 16 points in the period to edge their hosts. Medd led all scorers with 16 points while Honsberger added 11.

The tilt was played at a furious pace throughout with many fouls being called on the rampaging Stony Brookers.
