On this day nine years ago, Amanda Shapiro ’04 took home All-Conference honors in the 50 and 100 yard breaststrokes at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships.
The Wesleyan University junior placed 2nd in the 100 breast (1:06.27) and 3rd in the 50 (30.36). Her 100 time was good enough to earn her a second consecutive trip to Nationals in the event. Additionally, her leadoff leg in the 400 free relay (53.15) was good enough for the Nationals qualifying standard. She closed her memorable day by helping the 400 medley relay squad post a 3:59.60 mark, good enough for 5th place in the conference and a slot at Nationals.
