The ’57 cross country squad

On this day 58 years ago, the cross country team defeated the New York University freshmen, 24-36.

The Brookers were led by Tonnie Coane, who would go on to win the Ivy League Championship that season, followed by Wain Barnes, Robin Lingle, Ray Searby, and Lee Reineke.

The 1957 squad finished 6-1, with their only defeat coming at the hands of the West Point Plebes, and won a third straight Ivy League Championship in a sweep.
