The boys’ tennis team is on the brink of their second League Championship in three years after yesterday’s 6-1 victory over Sachem North.
After narrowly beating the Flaming Arrows 4-3 on April 14, the Bears made quick work of them yesterday, highlighted by Roman Volovoy’s gritty win at third singles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
The Bears currently stand alone atop League VI with an 8-1 record, ahead of second-place Comsewogue (7-2). They have clinched at least a share of the League Championship heading into their final match of the season today against Bellport, currently at the bottom of the league with a 1-7 record, in a continuation of a match that was suspended for rain.
