On This Day In History | 1963

February 23, 2011

On this day 48 years ago the wrestling squad captured a 3rd consecutive Ivy League Championship.  Their hopes of a three-peat were checked early in the season as they dropped their 2nd match to Horace Mann, 8-30.  However, the boys used the setback as motivation to defend their title and won their last 6 dual meets to finish 7-1 before getting revenge on Horace Mann in the Ivy League Championships.  5 Blue and White grapplers were crowned individual Ivy League Champions: Warren Hannas (123 lbs), Jack Emery (130 lbs), Johnny Vassilaros (148 lbs), Bill Johnson (183 lbs) and Jim Pendill (Unlimited).
