Yesterday evening, the girls’ soccer team capped a historic day in Stony Brook Athletics history by winning their fourth consecutive Suffolk County title, the 36th in school history, and the third of the day after the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams raced to victories over Southold. The crosstown rivals, separated by a mere 4.16 miles, battled into the frigid night, but it was the Bears who emerged the victors once again. Brianna Stiklickas provided the game-winning assist to Michelle Hennessy on a free kick with 2:17 remaining in the second overtime for a 1-0 win over Port Jeff.
They will take on Friends Academy in the Long Island Championship on Tuesday, November 9 at Diamond in the Pines @ 6:30pm.
