Preview of the 17th Harbor Classic

Joe Corrado (#30) and Tank Ekokobe tackle a Southampton player last Friday night

Tonight @ 7:00pm Stony Brook and Port Jefferson will renew their rivalry in the 17th Harbor Classic on the Royals’ home soil. Here is a preview of the clash courtesy of Christine Sampson from the Three Village Patch:

The Bears have yet to win a game this season, and will try again on Saturday at Port Jefferson’s Homecoming game. After his team watched tape on their upcoming opponent, Stony Brook coach Kris Ryan described Port Jefferson as a well-coached team.

“They don’t make many mistakes,” he said. “They are a young team, much like us, but they don’t play like it.”

This week in practice the Bears made some adjustments on defense to stop their opponents’ run games, which was their downfall last week against Southampton. Who, by the way, was Port Jefferson’s lone win of the season so far.

“We have told our kids that if we want to win this game we have to execute on both sides of the ball,” Ryan said. “We don’t have much room for error.”
