Charlie Onana Awana led the Bears’ opening charge with a layup, a block, and a one-handed baseline dunk for a quick 4-0 lead. Federico Chiappa followed with a floater before a Randolph Logan layup extended the Bear margin to 8-0. the Cougars answered with a jumper, but an inbound play alley-oop dunk to Onana Awana pushed the lead back to 10-3. Nate Small then connected on three consecutive jumpers, including a 3-pointer, to extend the lead to 18-8. Small continued to be an offensive catalyst in the second period as he drained another 3-pointer and scored consecutive layups to lead The Brook to a 43-20 halftime lead.
The onslaught continued in the third quarter as the Bears scored the first 10 points of the half on a pair of Orlando Morris threes, an Onana Awana putback, and another Small jumper. The Brook carried a 58-35 advantage into the fourth, where crowd favorites Josh Duncan, Lawrence Tom, John Bui, Leo Ouyang, and Fletcher Brown played much-deserved minutes and delighted the Swanson faithful.
