On Friday night, the girls’ basketball team improved to 7-0 in league play with a 54-26 win at Portledge that swept the season series from the Panthers.

In their December match-up, the Bears raced out to a 21-0 lead and led 21-2 after the first quarter. On Friday night, the Bears also led 21-2 after the opening frame behind eight points from Niamh Scanlon and six from Scarlett Davey. The lead grew to 39-6 at the half as Scanlon dropped in 11 more second-quarter points, while Jocelyn McCrain added eight. The Bears carried a 45-19 margin into the fourth to cruise to victory.

Scanlon led all scorers and nearly outscored the Panthers on her own with 25 points, which she accumulated through only three quarters. McCrain (13 points), Davey (6), Parisa Carrano (3), Myla Lombardo (2), Mairead Reitzel (2), and Chloe Feldman (1) rounded out the scoring for the Blue & White.

The Bears are back in action on Monday afternoon in a Senior Day match-up with Martin Luther. A victory would clinch at least a share of their second consecutive PSAA regular season title.
