Yesterday evening, the girls’ basketball team won the consolation game of the Wantagh Holiday Tournament with a 51-35 victory over Seaford.
The Bears jumped out to a 17-6 lead after the first quarter but saw the Vikings bounce back in a 16-10 second frame as The Brook took a 27-22 lead into the break. After a 5-5 stalemate in the third quarter, the Bears carried a five-point edge into the fourth where they put the game away in a 19-8 period.
Ava McCormick, who earned a place on the All-Tournament team with a 17-point, 18-rebound average over the two games, led the way with 23 points. Niamh Scanlon scored 15, Jocelyn McCrain 11, and Parisa Carrano 2.
The Bears are back in action this afternoon in a home match-up with Portledge in their PSAA opener.
