On Friday evening, the girls’ swim team traveled to NYC for a quad meet and finished the day 2-1 with wins over Horace Mann (106-56) and Berkeley Carroll (126-7) and a narrow loss to Blair (82-83).
Amelia Griffin (100 backstroke) and Kaityln Tse (100 breaststroke) were the Bears’ individual winners on the day. Griffin also joined forces with Naomi Crane, Scarlett Wigington, and Ruthie Crane to win the 200 freestyle relay.
In addition, the Cranes, Griffin, Tse, and Tiwa Ojutiku hit NYSAIS qualifying times to earn spots in February’s state championship.
Coach Laura Donlevy had this to say about the meet:
Congratulations to Leila Benvenutti for competing in her first swim meet ever! Great job to Luciana Salsone and Nevaeh Pulipati for swimming the 500 yard freestyle for the first time. A big shout out to Nevaeh for swimming three events back-to-back-to-back. Thank you to our team captains Amelia Griffin and Ruthie Crane for their leadership throughout the meet. This meet hopefully taught everyone on our team a lot of lessons and showed us where we are, and what we need to do to achieve our individual and team goals this season.
The Bears are back in the water this afternoon for a co-ed meet at Fieldston.
