Summer gave us a grand farewell yesterday with a balmy 75-degree day, and the girls’ tennis team made the most of the unseasonable weather in a 5-0 sweep of #4 Avenues in the PSAA semifinals.

Playing in the familiar confines of the Hollis Tennis Courts, Carina Cristobal (6-0, 6-1), Sarah Arrieta (6-0, 6-0), and Alanna Wu (6-0, 6-0) were nearly perfect at singles against the Aviators. Isabel Guo and Ali Cristobal (6-0, 6-2) and Lyla Petroske and Fiona Rivas (7-6, 6-1) completed the sweep that put the Bears in the PSAA Championship for a fifth consecutive season.

They will hunt for their third straight title and fourth in five years when they host the winner of #2 Portledge and #3 Staten Island Academy on Thursday afternoon.
