Yesterday afternoon inside a thunderous Swanson Natatorium, the girls’ swim team powered past Sachem North, 49-43, to close the fall season at 7-1. Their only loss came against Hauppauge/Smithtown, the reigning Suffolk County Champions and owners of an undefeated record.
Ruthie Crane was a double winner in the 200 (2:06.40) and 500 freestyle (5:36.93) and helped the 200 medley and 200 free relays to victories, making her Senior Night a memorable one. Kaitlyn Tse was the Bears’ other dual winner in the 200 individual medley (2:18.99) and 100 breaststroke (1:23.33). Amelia Griffin (50 free – 25.26), Naomi Crane (100 free – 57.47), and Genevieve Rochlin (100 butterfly – 1:04.86) were the other event winners for The Brook.
The Bears took two of the three relays as Griffin, Tse, Rochlin, and Ruthie Crane won the 200 medley in 1:58.57, then swapped Rochlin for Scarlett Wigington and won the 200 free in 1:45.46.
The Bears now look ahead to the winter season where they will join the boys during coed private school competitions.
