Swimmers Cruise Past Bonackers

Yesterday afternoon, in front of a standing room crowd in Swanson Natatorium, the swim team dispatched East Hampton, 55-39.

Amelia Griffin (100 & 200 freestyle), Ruthie Crane (50 & 500 freestyle), Genevieve Rochlin (200 individual medley), and Kaitlyn Tse (100 butterfly) earned individual victories for the Bears. The Blue & White also took two of the three relays as Naomi Crane, Scarlett Wigington, Rochlin, and Griffin combined to win the 200 freestyle and the Cranes, Tse, and Griffin won the 400 freestyle.

In addition, numerous lifetime bests were achieved including Tse in the 100 butterfly, Rochlin and Wigington in the 200 IM, Brooke Shteierman in the 100 free, and Serena Zhou in the 50 free.

The atmosphere was electric as the entire baseball team and numerous parents and students packed the stands and made the room thunder with energy during the tense moments of close races. One of the meet highlights was Shteierman’s come-from-behind third place finish in the 100 free which shook the room. The Blue Fan Group no doubt served as fuel that helped power our girls to victory.

The Bears are back in the water on Thursday in a battle at William Floyd.
