On Saturday afternoon, Caroline Helmer ’22 and teammate Annette Kim won their no. 1 doubles match, 8-5, in Gordon College’s season opener vs. Simmons University. The freshman picked up right where she left off after an outstanding career at The Brook, during which she helped lead the Bears to consecutive undefeated PSAA Championship seasons.
Though the Fighting Scots fell by a team score of 2-7 on the day, Helmer and Kim provided a bright spot for a team that was picked to finish in the top half of the Commonwealth Coast Conference in the preseason coaches poll.
Helmer and the Scots are back in action on Friday when they face Emerson College in their home opener.
