Yesterday afternoon, the baseball team helped the seniors walk off Jeff Adams Field for the last time with a win in a 6-2 victory over Citius Academy.
The Bears got on the board in the bottom of the 1st when Tyler Jones was hit by a pitch, moved to third on a Jayden Stroman single, and came home when the pitcher spiked a fastball that bounced well over the catcher’s head. They added to their lead with a cooked number in the 3rd inning when Alex Baaden walked, Ben Monforth singled, and Sebastian Perez doubled to double the lead, 2-0. Logan Charboneau followed two batters later with a two-run single, before a Seth Laureano double made it 5-0. An E4 on a Jojo Franco pop up scored the inning’s fifth run and gave the Brook a commanding 6-0 lead. It proved to be the Bears’ final run of the game, but Franco, Baaden, and Charboneau ensured it would be more then enough.
Franco went four innings, working around 5 walks with 7 strikeouts while yielding no hits. Baaden followed with a hitless inning before giving way to Charboneau to nail the game down. The freshman rung up 3 Ks, and yielded just one hit, a two-run home run in the 7th inning, to cap a dominant pitching performance for the Brook.
