On Tuesday afternoon, the baseball team powered past Long Island Lutheran, 18-14, in a non-league match-up in Brookville.

The Bears struck in the top of 1st for three runs, courtesy of a bases loaded walk to Logan Charboneau, a Seth Laureano RBI single to left field, and a Jojo Franco double play that plated Aaron Babaev (walk). LuHi struck back for five runs in their half of the 2nd after a pair of hit batsmen and a walk loaded the bases with one out. A pair of singles and a three-run double provided the damage as Lutheran took a 5-3 lead.

From there the Bears righted the ship with 12 unanswered runs with three in the 3rd and 4th innings and a six-run 5th. A Franco single in the 3rd knotted the game at 5-5 before Charboneau stole home for a 6-5 edge. In the 4th, a Babaev single, a Charboneau double, and a Laureano sacrifice fly hung three more runs for the Brook as they extended the lead to 9-5. The six runs in the 5th came on a Sebastian Perez single, an Alex Baaden two-run single, a two-run E5, and a Jacob Lippe single. When the dust settled, the Brook held a 15-5 advantage.

LuHi would not go quietly, scoring three runs in each of the final three innings as some pitchers received valuable mound experience and the Bears cruised to the 18-14 win. Tyler Jones had 3 hits on the day and recorded 2 RBIs along with Charboneau, Laureano, Perez, and Baaden. Perez was strong on the hill in relief, pitching two scoreless innings and ringing up 6 strikeouts.
